WiFi-only Motorola Xoom won’t have Movies right away, Canadian Xooms getting SD support someday
If you’re the proud owner of a Motorola Xoom, you will get Android 3.1, but we’re afraid the timing and features included in that update may depend on where you reside and which one you bought. For instance, while both Verizon 3G and WiFi-only Xooms in the United States are seeing the latest Honeycomb slowly trickle in right now, Motorola says that the WiFi version won’t have movie rentals available immediately after the update. What’s more, though the new hotness doesn’t seem to bring microSD card support to US devices, Motorola says that Canadian models will get that exact functionality “soon.” What if you don’t live in North America at all? We’re afraid we can’t tell you.

Viewsonic G Tablet gets firmware update with Flash, USB peripheral support
Viewsonic’s G Tablet may not have made much of splash when it debuted last fall, but it’s certainly been picking up a bit of steam as of late. A recent price drop brought its cost down to just $280, and hackers have even managed to overclock its processor to 1.4GHz and get it running CyanogenMod 7 to boot. Now Viewsonic itself has given the tablet a further boost, with a new firmware update bringing support for both Flash and USB peripherals, which can apparently also be used with a docking station. The update’s of the over-the-air variety, and should be waiting for you if you haven’t turned on your G Tablet in the past few days.

PhotoFast’s AP1000 takes AirPlay support to your car
3.5mm auxiliary inputs and stereo Bluetooth used to be good enough — but that was before Apple announced AirPlay a few months ago. Now, everything else sounds like someone is stabbing you in the ears; the world looks black and white, and food no longer has any taste. AirPlay, save us! Taiwanese firm PhotoFast is playing the superhero role here today with the AP1000, a little black module with WiFi that accepts incoming AirPlay streams and routes them through to your car’s stereo. From the demo video, it’s obvious that you’re probably going to want to get a professional car audio installer involved to make this happen — and before you ask, no, it won’t do video — but if you’ve got an Apple logo sticker on your rear window, we bet this is exactly how you want to roll.
